The verbal tussles between the hero and the heroine as shown in the television commercial is interesting and after you have seen the film you begin think ‘was it the only interesting part of the film and unfortunately, yes – a small but interesting part.’ The film starts, ridiculous as it is with a voice predicting that two babies born, a boy and a girl will become lovers in the future (that’s stating the obvious anyway). The babies meet again at a shop and hold each other’s hands – portrayed as a very important scene by the director. The two grow up and join the same college but unaware of the development. They come face to face for a strange reason – Vijay acts as the messenger for his friend to pass a love letter to his friend’s lover and he finds Jyothika a way to pass it on. They get close to each other but have this misunderstandings and ego problems especially from the girl’s side that they find it difficult to get along with each other. They decide to part ways but only after having united their loving friends. Jyothika making faces in the early half is interesting but soon the same becomes a pain.
Starring Karthick, Rambha, Kowdamani and directed by Sunder.C - the same team of Ullathai Allithaa. A light-hearted movie where one should not look for much excellence. As an entertainer Unakaaga Ellam Unakaaga is a success, a good therapy after a hard day’s work though it is not in the same class as Ullathai Allithaa. Karthick, a villager and the only son of a rich man is extravagant and this upsets his father. Karthick meets Rambha and instantly it is Ullathai Allithaa for him. But he struggles to express him love either unable to gather enough courage or Kowdamani appears as “Kabab mein Haddi” between them. Until she says “ILU”. Karthick’s father meets his old friend and fixes Karthick’s marriage with his friend’s daughter. Karthick and his friends are determined to play spoil sport and manage to instigate a fight between the two parties only to find that the girl (I know you guessed it) is none other than Rambha but the damage is done. Karthick manages to convince Rambha and the respective families and the lovers unite.
Prasanth, a musical instrument technician?, is in love with Simran. Prashanth falls for Simran. As always Simran's hate turns into love and what follows is (u know) a couple of song and dance sequences (including one at a music competition where Simran’s mind changes). Usual stuff again as they exchange places to impress the lover’s parents and other family members. What more to add… most of it is rather predictable just with a few twists here and there. Isha Gopikar makes a cameo appearance, an important one in the context of the script. And what a Jodi -Prashanth and Simran ?.
Parthiban, a taxi driver seeing the plight of Meena volunteers to help in the hour of need by mortgaging his car. He stays put at Meena’s place until he gets back his car. Parthiban falls in love with her but dreams of his fav actress, Rambha who by a stroke of luck comes with a film unit to shoot a film at Meena’s house. While is an unbelievable reality to Parthiban, Meena finds it positively irritating as by now she also has developed a soft corner for her. This part of the film, the shooting of a film (Viveck dons the cap of the director of the film being shot) is an entertaining excursion in the script. Parthiban, as an actor has come a long way from his Ullae-Valliyae genre of films.

Kandukondain

the
screenplay.

The
film
starts
with
nearly
parallel
tracks,
the
present
and
flashback.
Madhavan
is
waiting
for
Shalini
at
the
railway
station.
Every
now
and
again
the
narration
goes
into
a
flashback.
Madhavan
meets
Shalini
at
a
village
wedding
and
then
again
in
the
local
train.
Madhavan
falls
in
love
with
Shalini,
a
medical
student
and
follows
her
on
the
local
train,
her
college…..
She,
initially
does
not
respond
as
she
believes
that
love
is
for
people
who
have
nothing
better
to
do.
He
invites
her
and
her
sister
(Swarnamalya)
to
a
function
at
home
where
he
goes
around
telling
people
that
she’s
the
girl
he’s
going
to
marry.
His
parents
meet
her
parents
but
the
alliance
is
broken
because
of
class
differences.
Madhavan
and
Shalini
decide
to
part
but
soon
find
out
that
they
are
in
love
and
cannot
live
without
each
other.
He
goes
to
Kerala
to
meet
her
as
she’s
gone
to
a
medical
camp
there.
She
asks
him
if
he
can
marry
her.
The
lovers
marry
but
part
ways
to
their
respective
houses
as
agreed.
They
meet
daily
but
continue
to
live
separately.
This
continues
until
Shalini
is
forced
to
announce
that
she’s
already
married
when
a
family
who
comes
to
see
her
sister
are
interested
in
Shalini
for
their
second
son.
Shalini
is
asked
to
lie
the
house
and
she
goes
with
Madhavan.
Madhavan
together
with
his
friends
starts
a
software
firm.
Soon
the
couple
gets
into
little
skirmishes.
Meanwhile
Shalini’s
father
passes
away.
Madhavan
talks
to
Shalini’s
sister
and
her
groom
to
patch
up
so
that
the
marriage
which
got
cancelled
because
of
him
can
now
take
place.
Shalini
sees
Madhavan
with
her
sister
but
mistakes
her
for
someone
else
and
thinks
he’s
got
an
extra
marital
affair.
But
she
soon
learns
the
truth
from
her
sister
and
when
she’s
in
a
hurry
to
meet
Madhavan
meets
with
an
accident
–
hit
by
the
car
driven
by
Kushboo.
Seeing
Kushboo’s
ever
supportive
husband
(Arvind
Swamy)
he
realizes
his
mistake.
Shalini
recovers
and
the
‘lovers’
are
together
again.
The
film
begins
well
but
the
director,
in
trying
to
make
a
film
that
makes
a
big
impact,
meanders
into
highly
emotional
drama
and
the
film
loses
direction.
Vikram,
a
college
student
more
interested
in
campus
fights
than
studies
meets
Abitha,
a
new
student
-
soft-spoken
and
delicate
and
from
a
simple
Brahmin
family.
She
is
one
of
the
ragging
targets.
He
falls
for
her,
possibly
because
she’s
in
contrast
to
himself.
But
she
does
not
reciprocate
his
feelings
for
the
simple
reasons
that
her
upbringing
does
not
allow
it
and
also
her
marriage
was
fixed
with
her
“mora
payyan”
when
she
was
a
little
girl.
Her
sister
is
sent
home
asking
her
to
bring
more
money
as
part
of
dowry.
She
goes
to
a
brothel
to
borrow
money
but
a
police
raid
finds
her
seeking
the
help
of
Vikram
who
manages
to
get
her
out
but
is
seen.
Abitha
changes
her
mind
on
learning
that
Vikram
has
helped
her
sister.
Meanwhile,
a
few
of
Vikram’s
old
foes
beat
him
up
and
he
suffers
severe
brain
damage.
He
finds
himself
in
the
mental
asylum.
He
gets
cured
and
comes
back
only
to
find
his
lover
has
committed
suicide.
He
is
shown
going
back
to
the
mental
asylum.
The
character
of
Abitha
is
beautifully
portrayed
and
performed
while
Vikram
is
not
so
convincing.
The film tells the story of a husband who suspects his wife to have illicit relationship with other men and takes sadistic pleasure
in
tormenting
her
at
every
available
opportunity.
Prashanth
meets
a
girl
(Kaushalya)
and
gives
her
oru
kaditham,
aasayil
at
a
marriage
and
is
shocked
to
find
that
she's
none
other
than
the
bride.
He
explains
that
it
was
his
mistake,
to
the
groom
who's
none
other
than
his
close
friend,
Anand
but
his
friend
believes
that
his
friend
and
his
wife
have
betrayed
him.
He's
supported
in
his
villaneous
acts
by
his
father.
Prashanth
saves
Kaushalya
from
her
in-laws
and
takes
her
to
her
house
but
her
father
turns
her
away
as
he
is
also
made
to
believe
that
his
daughter
has
ran
away
with
Prashanth
from
her
in-laws
place.
Prashanth
and
Kaushalya
decide
to
live
as
friends.
The
script
by
Chelva(also
director)
is
founded
on
a
theme
that
promises
a
family
melodrama
but
is
unconvincing.
Artistes
with
the
possible
exception
of
Anand
are
found
wanting.
